New from Stephenie Meyer

OK, so our beloved Stephenie has decided to venture into the world of vampires once again...only not with the Cullens, but with a peripheral character from Eclipse.  I am really trying to get excited about this, but just haven't mustered up much except a modest "hooray...more Stephenie vampires".  I was REALLY, REALLY hoping she would take pity on us and finish 'Midnight Sun'.  Now THAT would get me all fired up!!!  But Bree Tanner...I will wait and see.

Check out this still from Eclipse:
Doesn't Edward look yummy???  I think Eclipse is just going to be even better than the first two...for many reasons.  First, it is my favorite book.  They would have to botch it pretty big for me not to love it.  Second, the stills just look more vivid.  They seem to have just amped up the production value even more for this movie!  Third, and most important, I CAN'T WAIT for the tent scene.  Seriously...the best scene in the WHOLE SERIES!!!  I will have serious trouble sitting still for the first part of the movie becuase I will be anticipating that scene.  Good thing this one comes out in the summer...it is going to take multiple viewings before I catch it all.  The tent scene will just distract me for the first 3 or 4 times I see it!

Did you check out the "Community Re-Read" over at Eclipsemovie.org??  So much fun...here is the first installment:

Chapter 1: Ultimatum
The word ‘boyfriend’ had me chewing on the inside of my cheek with a familiar tension while I stirred. It wasn’t the right word, not at all. I needed something more expressive of eternal commitment…Edward had another word in mind, and that word was the source of the tension I felt. It put my teeth on edge just to think it to myself…FiancĂ©e

Everything seems to be back to normal in the dreary, rainy town of Forks, Washington. The killings and drama have subsided…for now. Charlie has even stopped wearing his gun strap to work lol. Basically this first chapter gets us up to speed on the prior events that went down in the final chapter of New Moon.

Here is a breakdown of the first chapter:

Charlie has put some rather ridiculous stipulations on a now adult Bella, including Edward’s 7-9:30pm visitation hours. But Alice has become a permanent fixture at the Swan home, since Bella isn’t allowed to go anywhere except school, & work, again she’s an adult…whatever.

Pg. 10 Charlie has decided to let Bella off punishment early for good behavior, but strongly suggests that she not spend all her time with the Cullen’s(where else would I rather be?) Charlie tries to make this stipulation about Bella’s friends from Forks high school, but it’s really about Jacob who has now developed a bout of depression over loosing Bella.

Pg.15 The college application charade has begun. “Congratulations.’ He said before I could read anything. “Your first acceptance.” “We should talk about tuition. I’ve got money saved up.” “I’m not touching your retirement, Dad. I’ve got my college fund.” Charlie frowned. “Some of those places are pretty pricey, Bells. I want to help. You don’t have to go all the way to Alaska just because it’s cheaper.” “I’ve got it covered. Besides, there’s a lot of financial aid out there. It’s easy to get loans.” I hoped my bluff wasn’t too obvious. I hadn’t actually done a lot of research on the subject. “So…” “So what?” “Nothing. I was just wondering what Edward’s plans are for next year?” Three quick raps on the door saved me. Charlie rolled his eyes and I jumped up.

Pg.17(17 coincidence?) Our first description of the scrumptious Edward Cullen. “Time has not made me immune to the perfection of his face, and I was sure that I would never take any aspects of him for granted. My eyes traced over his pale white features: the hard square of his jaw, the softer curve of his full lips-twister up into a smile now, the straight line of his nose, the sharp angle of his cheekbones, the smooth marble span of his forehead-patiently obscured by a tangle or rain-darkened bronze hair. I saved his eyes for last, knowing that when I looked into them I was likely to lose my train of thought. They were wide, warm liquid gold, and framed by a thick fringe of black lashes. Staring into his eyes always made me feel extraordinary…It was a face of any male model in the world would trade his soul for.” Yowza!

Pg.22During Edward’s repetitive nightly visits to the Swan residence, he learns of Bella’s early parole. While toting college applications, Edward is forced to feel the wrath of Chief Swan who is clearly team Jacob at this point, and wants nothing to do with team Edward lol.

During the whole college application process, Bella becomes quite bratty in this chapter(as she does in the entire book IMO) “I snorted and shoved the papers aside…Be serious, Edward. Dartmouth?” “Like I could even get in without some enormous bribe. Or was that part of the loan? The new Cullen wing of the library? Ugh. Why are we even having this discussion again?” “Will you just fill out the application, please, Bella? It won’t hurt to apply.” My jaw flexed. “You know what? I don’t think I will.” I reached for the papers, planning to crumple them into a suitable shape for lobbing at the trashcan, but they were already gone. Sidebar-I’m a Virgo, and like Bella, I do understand the constant need to have things go your way. But our Bella is being beyond stubborn and wants what she wants when she wants it without thinking about the consequences. Perhaps if she took a bit of caution, instead of throwing it to the wind, maybe she wouldn’t have such an unstable, messed up life?

While Bella continues to push for immortality right after graduation, Edward takes this time to show Bella the front page of the local newspaper: DEATH TOLL ON THE RISE, POLICE FEAR GANG ACTIVITY. After reading the paper, Edward explains the recent murders have been committed by a gang of newborns. This doesn’t make things any easier for Bella as she realizes that graduation is a few short weeks away and she will have to say goodbye to everyone human, then begins to get nauseous at the thought.

Pg 26. After Edward brings all the recent killings nearby to Bella’s attention, she suggests that after she is made immortal, that they move to Antarctica…”Penguins, lovely”Lmao.

Pg 27. It’s apparent just how much Bella is missing Jacob Black when Edward absentmindedly makes a not so nice killing-of the-wolves reference. “Alaska then as planned. Only somewhere much more remote than Juneau-somewhere with grizzlies galore.” “Better,” he allowed. “There are polar bears, too. Very fierce. And the wolves get quite large.” My mouth fell open and my breath blew out in a sharp gust. “What’s wrong?” he asked. Before I could recover, the confusion vanished and his whole body seemed to harden. “Oh. Never mind the wolves then, if the idea is offensive to you.” “He was my best friend Edward,” “Of course the idea offends me.”

Pg 28. At this point Bella wants desperately to see Jacob, but Edward is not having it. He tells Bella, that she has done nothing wrong, which is a half truth. Let’s go back to New Moon, the movie theater scene when Mike Newton is sick in the bathroom, and Jacob tries to hold Bella’s hand and she tells him she isn’t into him in that way. She tells him she is damaged goods, and that she basically is using him. Although her actions spoke otherwise, what does Jacob Black say? “I’ve got all the time in the world.” Big mistake my friend. She pulls away from you every time you get close to her. It’s a sad state of affairs. IMO Bella and Jacob are both to blame for the strain on their relationship, but had bonehead Edward had never left…we wouldn’t be having this discussion.

The end of this first chapter closes with Edward giving Bella a stern “no” when it comes to visiting Jacob. He feels it’s too dangerous for her to be around him and the rest of the Quileutes. So let me get this straight, it’s okay for Bella to be around the wolf pack for 3 of the 7 months you were gone, Edward? But now that you are back, they are off limits? Yes we all saw what can happen (Emily) and yes Bella is prone to life threatening idiocy. But I don’t see Jacob ever hurting Bella, physically anyway.

Here are some possible topics:

What is your favorite quote from this chapter of the book? Do you hope to see it word-for-word in the movie?

What detail or scene are you most hoping to see from this chapter in the movie, and why would you be mad if they left it out?

What part of this chapter is just filler and you could you live without seeing on the big screen?

You should check it out every Monday and Friday until the movie comes out!  I am and have even posted comments.  It is fun to talk Eclipse with other fans!!

Lazy...there's no other excuse

Yes, my friends, I am a big enough girl to admit I have been sit-on-the-couch-in-pajamas, cereal for dinner, don't shave the legs, shove the dirt under the fridge, wear socks twice before washing LAZY!  I haven't been here to talk about the release of the New Moon DVD, Breaking Dawn news, or the (squeal!!!) fact that Eclipse is only double digit days away.

And I am sorry.  Really sorry.  Let me make it up to you...check this out:
Like it???  It is the new poster for Eclipse.  I think it is great!!  And Edward looks nice...really nice!  See?

I'm liking the look.  It seems to get better with each movie!!
Only 97 days to go!! (though I may just self-combust before then...did you SEE the sneak peek in the DVD...OME.  Really, self combust.  Seriously.)

Speaking of Eclipse, the folks at http://www.eclipsemovie.org/ have this going on:
Hello our faithful readers! Starting Monday March, 29th I will be back with our widely popular community Re-Read!
This time we will be re-reading Eclipse, which is my favorite book of the series. Things will basically run the same way as last year’s New Moon re-read, but with one minor change.

We will read a chapter, then I will post the breakdown of that chapter, and together we can discuss the highlights and low lights. The only difference this time around will be that the re-read will not be everyday, I will post 2 chapters a week. This format stretches it out a bit and this gives us something extra to look forward to, and pass the time along a bit quicker until June 30th.

I did the New Moon community Re-Read and it was fun!!  It was kind of cool to see what other fans think of the chapters/event/characters.  I am DEFINITELY planning to participate!!  How about you???

Breaking Dawn news!!! (happy dancing here...)

Look what I found:

Breaking Dawn will be TWO MOVIES!!!!!!!

“I have this from several sources, and it’s definitive. Filming on the back-to-back movies would begin in mid-October, and Summit Entertainment is looking at “high-end” directors. Breaking Dawn is the longest in Stephenie Meyer’s 4-book series lengthwise and it’s the most graphic — presenting birth, attempted murder, death, and of course vampire bites. Published on August 2, 2008, it has a happy ending for most of the characters. Divided into 3 parts, the 1st and 3rd sections are told from the point of view of Bella (Kristen Stewart), and the second section from the perspective of Jacob (Taylor Lautner). It prominently features all 3 favorite characters including Edward (Robert Pattinson). Summit Entertainment no doubt will save money by making these Twilight Saga movies #4 and #5 back to back. Screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg (who’s written all the Twilight Saga films) is currently adapting Breaking Dawn. Eclipse, the 3rd movie, will be released on June 30th.”

Oh baby...it is a happy day here!!!!!!  Best news I have had in a long time...well, except for this:

Seriously...wow.  I am just speechless...that is the most totally yummy thing I have ever seen.  Ever.  Really.  E...V...E...R.  Damn.  I'm overheating here.  Give me a minute.

Anyway...besides the fact that Taylor Lautner is now legal (go Angie...), I have nothing else Twilight.

Now, for my girl child, let me have a little shout out about Percy Jackson and the Olympians.  LOVED the movie!!  Percy seemed a little more "with it" than he did in the first book, but I will overlook it because the kid playing Percy is so darn cute:

See?  Cutie!

OK, gotta go.  Time for the Olympics.  I am a true Olympics fan...I LOVE it!!

TWO...TWO...TWO...I VOTE FOR TWO!!!!

OK, so I am happily surfing the net as I soak in the tub (on the wireless netbook belonging to the girl child...shhhh...she doesn't know) and I see this little tidbit:

“Wyck Godfrey, the producer of all the films in the “Twilight” saga, admits that the creative team still doesn’t know how they’ll handle the character [Renesmee] in the “Breaking Dawn” movie, but said that the plan is absolutely for the production to go forward — as either one or two installments — with an eye toward beginning to shoot in Vancouver this fall. All three stars are signed for “Breaking Dawn,” he said, meaning that Stewart and Pattinson will be dealing with the joys and woes of interspecies parenting and newly minted heartthrob Taylor Lautner will return as often-shirtless shape-shifter Jacob Black.

At the moment, screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg, who’s penned all the “Twilight” movies, is working on the “Breaking Dawn” script(s). “It’s a work in process,” Godfrey said in an interview Friday. “The issue [of whether there will be one or two movies] is not going to be resolved until we get the full treatment and see whether it’s organic. If it’s not organic, I don’t think it will be done, and if it is, it will be. It really has to do with how much level of detail from the books there is, with all of these new vampires that appear in ‘Breaking Dawn,’ the whole section about Jacob… It’s a very long single movie if it does become a single movie.”

OK, seriously...ONE MOVIE????  How the hell will they cram all that is Breaking Dawn into one movie?  It will be 10 hours long!   Really?  Just give it up and go for two.  I can PROMISE you will make a killing on it!  Who can we write about this?  Perhaps some more surfing is in order...

On another note, I think we need a movie night once the official New Moon DVD comes out!!  Girls, drinks, and Edward (ok, Jacob for you wolf lovers...sheesh)--sounds pretty good to me!!!

March 21st...girls' night...mark it on your calendar!!

It's darn cold...and where have I been?

OK, I have been a bad blogger lately...it has just been crazy busy with Christmas, the stomach bug (ugh...that really sucked), and the general nuttiness of this time of year!!!  But I am back and ready to talk about stuff with my bestest friends!!

Now, I have to state that is was DARN COLD today.  Really?  29 degrees in Texas?  Wind chill of 7?  Seriously?  That is Missouri weather and I DON'T miss it!  I do have to admit that as I was obtaining frostbite on the fingers and toes in the bus lane this morning, I did have a laugh-out-loud moment...I was shivering and lamenting my lot in life when I remembered the tent scene in Eclipse.  Remember...freak cold storm, snow, space heaters???  I very crossly thought of how I would rather freeze solid than snuggle up to Jacob--sorry my dear Jacob obsessed friends...can't even jump of the wolf-wagon when I am freezing to death!  I laughed out loud at the absurdity of that thought.  Though I do suppose that just goes along with my firm allegiance to Team Edward.  :-)

Anyway, only 173 days until Eclipse!!  I am starting to get really excited...can you say IMAX?????  Love it!!!

BTW, did you see that an early copy of the script was leaked online this week???  Interesting news to say the least.  I, for one, won't be reading it, though.  I want that excitement of the midnight movie to be as great as it was for New Moon!  Besides, it's not as if we don't know how the whole thing goes...

Have you seen the awesome new skins for laptops, iPods, & phones???  They are really cool:

Hmmm...I have some Christmas money with no purpose...here is the link for you interested folks:

Well, gotta go and make some dinner for the offspring.  Sigh.  Being a vampire would be so much easier...no dishes.

Back to Normal??

So, our precious movie premiere has come and gone and we can all get back to normal, right??  Seriously??  I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the movie!  It was all I had hoped for (minus my very, absolute favorite line from the series...sigh) and a little bit more.  I do think they made Jacob seem a little "nicer" than he really was in the book.  Where was the line "Bye Bella...I really hope you don't die!" when he leaves her with Alice.  I think the movie made Jacob the "good" guy and Edward the "bad" guy.  I didn't get that vibe in the book...I always got the sense they were both "good" just in different ways...thus the fire and ice analogy.  Any thoughts???  I will admit to seeing it 3 times already with another viewing in the works.  But that is all I will admit to...

On another note,  I am digging out Eclipse to re-read it (for the 10th time...really...10.  And I have other books to read...) to get ready for that premiere in June.  Only  days until Eclipse!!  Yeah!

Speaking of Eclipse...I found this great article at Rotten Tomatoes (http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/twilight_saga_eclipse/news/1857422/5_facts_about_the_twilight_saga_eclipse)  Check it out:

The Twilight Saga: New Moon has been in cinemas for almost a week. So, depending on your feelings towards sparkly vampires and extremely buff werewolves, you will either have seen it three times already (ZOMG RPattz!) or avoided it altogether. Either way, the fandemonium has subsided enough for us to look to the future. It's just seven months until Eclipse, the third instalment of Stephenie Meyer's popular book series, hits the big screen. RT caught up with the cast in LA's Four Seasons hotel during their manic New Moon press tour to get the latest on the eagerly anticipated film. We learned that Robert Pattinson hates pranks, that Nikki Reed loves werewolves and that we may just see a fifth film. Read on to find out more...

Fact #1: It's Darker

The brand new poster for Eclipse hints at a darker tone with its brooding storm clouds. With 30 Days of Night director David Slade at the helm, it's unsurprising. "Every movie is different because we work with a different director on each one, which I love," Taylor Lautner tells RT. "David Slade is perfect for the third film because it's darker. Eclipse was my favorite book."

Ashley Greene, who plays vampire Alice, tells RT that Slade isn't just a prince of darkness. "David is actually hysterical," she laughs, "He has such a dry sense of humour that sometimes you don't know if he's kidding or not. Eclipse will be amazing because he has made it far edgier and more dramatic. It's going to look very cool."

Ok, it is just me or is the whole "darker" thing a little disturbing.  Don't mess with my favorite book David Slade.  I will NOT be happy.  Grrrrr....

Oh my...we're down to 2 days...and my girl child is lucky

that I am a reasonable adult who understands kids...especially 5th graders.  She wrote the most amazing letter explaining her outburst of this morning, her misunderstanding of "room cleaning requirements" and other assorted stuff.  I am extremely proud of her taking responsibility and trying to fix things.  Now, I know she is probably trying to cover her booty and retain her midnight movie priveleges...but I will take compliance any way I can get it!  Plus she offered up a consequence that is WAY worse than missing the movie as a trade---no electronics for a week.  That means no phone, iPod, TV, radio, DS, Wii...you get the picture.  For my totally plugged in child...this is torture.  She made a good case and presented an alternative consequence---and since responsibility is the goal of this whole parenting thing, I made the deal.  Pushover?  Maybe, but this is something I have looked forward to for a LONG time and I know she has as well.  To miss it would be a shame.

SO...in summary...the spouse and I decided to reverse our decision about no New Moon and institute another consequence.  Believe me...she will pay for her mistake (see the no electronics comment).  But I think it will be in a more "lesson learning" way.

By the way...did you know it is only 2 days!!!  2 days!!  Seriously...about 53 hours.  I am just about to hyperventilate right now!!  2 days!!!

Leaving with a fave quote from New Moon...here's our girl Bella:

Option three: Edward loved me. The bond forged between us was not one that could be broken by absence, distance, or time. And no matter how much more special or beautiful or brilliant or perfect than me he might be, he was as irreversibly altered as I was. As I would always belong to him, so would he always be mine.
